Il Roccolo

History

The origin of the name of the company is very ancient: Roccolo is the name of a small slender construction, built on the base of a medieval tower surrounded by trees, built on top of a hill located in the heart of the company surrounded by vineyards and olive groves overlooking the wonderful Lake Garda. This building, today symbol of the company, was built on the base of a medieval tower by an ancestor who was parish priest of the village in 1815-1826, “Don Bartolomeo Bertazzi” who cultivated the typical Brescian passion for birds. Today no longer used for hunting.

Who we are

The family

The Bertazi family has very ancient origins already present as a surname in the town statutes dating back to 1454. The main activity has always been the agricultural one flanked by a restaurant that rented rooms run by the great-grandmother in the early 1900s, in which during the Second War Worldwide, some internally displaced people were fleeing from the cities. In addition, there was a small butcher shop which was then taxied with horses and a horse-drawn carriage (birocc, like the Brescia name) used for the last time in the 1970s during the oil crisis. It was in the 1950s that his grandfather, Bertazzi Andrea, concentrated the production of wine and oil with, subsequently, the help of his son Giuseppe, expanding the land cultivated with vines and olive trees.

The company today

Today the management of the Bertazzi Andrea company continues with the help of the family. The land is located in the hilly area of the town (the Morainic hills) in Castelletto, one of the oldest and most characteristic districts of the country. From the various lands you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Garda, Mount Baldo and nearby local mountains.

Cosa coltiviamo
